From David Calametti:

You’re invited to join Travelhost Lower Alabama on Facebook

Our mission is to "Serve the Traveler" to Lower Alabama - to make sure that they have the opportunity to experience the BEST the Gulf Coast has to offer. Published quarterly and distributed through hotel rooms in Mobile and Baldwin Counties, Travelhost Lower Alabama showcases - with articles, directories and local maps - wonderful places to eat, shop, play and experience. Each issue highlights the major events happening in the Bay area and also offers up suggestions for things to do that might not be on everyone's radar. That's also where Travelhost LA Facebook may be of interest to you. With our FB Page, we want to be a conduit for visitors - and locals - to find out what's going on NOW that's fun, for a good cause, enlightening, engaging, or just flat out something you've got to see for yourself. We'll also use the page to share with you good news from and about your neighbors and our business friends that help support the magazine. (We promise to always be judicious in our communications and respectful of your time and sensibilities)

Please join us by becoming a fan at:

Travel writer visits Mobile.

On November 16th 2008 the New York Times published a story written by travel writer Dave Gardetta. The article was about Mobile AL seen through the eyes of Gardetta. It was assigned by a professor at the University of South Alabama, and once it was discussed in class, differing opinions about how Mobile and surrounding areas were portrayed by this writer. The storytelling itself is not a boring read. Gardetta details much of the landscape and architecture that makes Mobile endearing. On one side, some people felt that Gardetta may have appeared to be condescending towards the traditionally southern city. The other side interprets the article as being slightly comedic, but maybe with some truths. Either way it is an interesting insight to how visitors view and retell stories of their Mobile moments. He discusses meetings with locals from NoJa, Tiny Diny, and the Battlehouse hotel. Here is the link for the article to read and develop your own opinion. Feel free to post comments or reactions to the article.
